What Not to Wear

I fairly dare Stacy and Clinton to tell my daughter to her face that the outfit she has picked out and piecemealed together into an...ummmm, one-of-a-kind look defies the rules of fashion and is, therefore, not suitable for public wearing and viewing. She intends to complete the look with her pink cowboy boots. I thought that would work, especially since she had already exhausted all other colour options.

We are off to the local doll and teddy bear museum, with hubby's 40 year old teddy along for the ride in little miss Diva's bright pink Barbie stroller. Teddy is somewhat more conservatively attired in a Harrods green and blue plaid shirt for bears.

Kids have been on a short spring break and are set to go back to school tomorrow because the district has two make-up, snow days they are trying to slot back into the calendar year.

Our weekend in Canada was swell. Very swell. We went to Canadian Tire to sniff rubber (it's a Canadian tradition - don't ask), stopped by Timmy's for a honey crueller donut, and we hung out at Stupidstore (the place we used to hate but have now grown to appreciate - go figure) where I found some long legged pj pants which is an impossible feat in and of itself, and where our dill pickle lovin' son bought Dill Pickle Crispers crackers (Mr. Christie, you make good crackers) and where I picked up two cans of saskatoon pie filling, the absolute best berry on the planet. We miss all these things. I miss Kraft Canada and the fact that I used to get my Kraft Canada recipe magazine every couple of months....they have the best horse dervie ideas and appealing snack ideas for kids, dill pickle Crisper crackers notwithstanding.

And I revelled in my London Drugs shopping experience. I went up and down every aisle very slowly. London Drugs rocks. I miss it mucho much, too.

And I've come home ultra-house happy again - I miss having a house too - after spending the weekend in our friends' newer 3,000 sq ft. domain, but of course, there is nothing new on the market here. Slim pickings. I know alot of people who keep their kids in the school system here but live in outlying areas and find a way around the district residency policies. I need to look into how we can do that.

Anyways, sun is shining and my daughter has her sparkly pink boots on, so it's time to seize the day. Let's just hope we don't run into Stacy. Or maybe let's hope we do. She might learn a thing or two from our little fashionista.

I think she looks fabuloso! The pink boots are the perfect thing to bottom it off. ;)

So, I'm thinkin' that, maybe, just maybe, you were missin' home a wee bit. Eh? (lol; just shoot me)

I told you that the boys are making up their snow days by having an additional ten minutes added to each day for the remaining 60 days of school, right? Tsk... it's so danged dumb. And the high schools... Lawds! They add an additional minute to each class period during the day. Now that's some quality learnin'!
Can you just see it? "Now, class, hold on please. I have an additional minute to speak about your algebra homework."
Pfffttt...

I'll be wantin' to hear all about the teddy museum. Ever since that movie, "AI" and the talking Teddy, I've felt sad for all teddy bears. Mojo loves them. He covets them. Thank God we had him fixed otherwise he'd be doing other things to 'em, too. Ha! (Gross.)
Cheers!

What happened to that stylin' girl in that last blog, anyway? She's really darling though. I cannot relate to any of your Canadian goodies, I'm sorry. I wish I could. One day maybe we'll move to Canada. Actually there was a lab in Calgary that my man was very interested in and he's keeping his doors open there. It is not too far from any of our other homes . . . well, besides this one. Really, I'm thinking of you and your homeless situation. This is sounding quite frightful.

P.S. Do you remember the name of those little star-shaped candies?

OK... I have to admit.. she looks adorable!! Certainly not within 'The Rules' or guidelines set out by Stacey and Clinton (I ♥ them too) but she is exercising her freedom of expression... which I am sure will become more expressive as she grows older!!! From such an outfit - I would assume she has a very creative and colorful imagination!

Isn't it wonderful to come home to the familiar!!! But even just from province to province... things are different. When I moved from BC to Ontario (long story... 3 months turned into 13 yrs later) - I missed out on A&B Sound... London Drugs... The Green Tomato (restaurants) and so on so forth. They simply don't exist here in Ontario. But now I am used to this area and would miss its conviniences should I ever relocate outside the province. But it is nice to come home... even from abroad.

Take care...
Ciao bella!

I am thinking that perhaps I am going to have to start sending down care packages...you see I get the mag, go to London Drogs or Shoppers even better as I collect the points and we live off Kraft. Kraft rules my house infact I get there recipes nicely deleivered to my IN box..so if you want some Northern love let me know.

Now I have "Don't Know What You've Got 'Til It's Gone" stuck in my head after your remarks about StupidStore, thanks, Holy.

Your girls looks simply smashing! Brings me back to Jess' school days; she went through a "I want to be unique fashionista!" and rolled one pant leg up, wore mismatched striped and patterned socks, plaid shirts over flowered tee-shirts and berets to school each and every day for a good month. It hurt my heart (and eyes) to let her leave the house each day, but I'm a fervent believer in letting kids be themselves unless they are harming themselves or others (it's that Wiccan in me). She's turned out to be a very expressive, energetic and creative person with excellent taste in clothing and all things aesthetic, so take heart! And a girl can never go wrong in pink cowboy boots, can she?

I couldn't NOT comment on this.

Today Calla went to school wearing a lovely shades-of-blue top that we bought in Florida and pink leggings with white tights underneath. So far, you are saying to yourself "Well, it still doesn't beat my daughter's colourful choices!" but you should know that she topped it off with a pink tutu. All frilly and fancy and organza-y. Add the runners, the silver-shot knit sweater and the knee length blue rain jacket and we have ourselves a contender for Fashionista of the North.

What makes me think our daughters would get along swimmingly?

p.s. We have a Canadian Tire just around the corner. Today I am taking Soph for a bike ride and I will stop in and sniff some rubber for you...

p.p.s. word verification...veidwo. Which reminds me of weirdo. Which is so a propos for this post. Rubber sniffing and fancy outfits...

I'm becoming rather convinced that word verification operates on a kind of law of attraction principle...

You veidwo you, A......

Calla and my little missie would get along famously, methinks! A pink tutu...I think she has even my fashionista beat!

By the by, thank you for engaging in some vicarious tire sniffing for me....as long as you only sniff the new ones in the store, it's all good.
